An air shower is a specialised chamber designed to reduce contaminants from people or objects before entering a cleanroom or controlled environment. It is an essential component in cleanroom facilities where maintaining a controlled and sterile environment is critical.

Air showers are commonly used in industries such as pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, electronics manufacturing, and semiconductor fabrication, where maintaining cleanliness and controlling contamination is essential.

When the shower cycle is started by the operative, the shower controls lock the doors and run the fans to provide the airflow. (Note the shower has a low power usage with a highly efficient fan).

Introducing PBSC’s New Design

PBSC’s new design has been enhanced not only in aesthetics but also in functionality. The high-performance fans are now strategically fitted to each side wall, ensuring optimal airflow through each plenum for more effective decontamination for your personnel.

Air showers play a critical role in maintaining cleanliness and controlling contamination in controlled environments such as cleanrooms.

Correct design, installation, operation, and maintenance of the air shower is essential to ensure its effectiveness in preserving the integrity of the controlled environment and meeting regulatory requirements.

The air shower features either stainless-steel or powder-coated steel construction with interlocked float and toughened glass personnel doors, 9 x adjustable stainless-steel nozzles on both side walls, (18 nozzles in total).

Air shower type:

2-Door Straight – For straight-through transfer

2-Door Right Angle – For angled transfer

3-Door T-Section – For straight-through or angle transfer with the shower mounted between 3 rooms in a T-Section configuration.

PBSC decontamination showers are used to clean personnel on entry or exit from areas with hazardous substances, including facilities within healthcare, medical research, pharmaceutical, and high containment, removing all traces of possible contamination from protective garments.
