Overview

PBSC’s cleanroom trolley pass-through hatch, also known as a floor mounted hatch, pass box, pass chamber, or pass through is engineered for the secure and efficient transfer of trolleys and large equipment between different cleanroom and controlled environments.

Being one of the best on the market, constructed from high-quality stainless steel, the hatch features smooth surfaces for easy cleaning, an interlock system for contamination control, and customisable options to fit your facility’s specific needs.

Ideal for cleanrooms, laboratories, and hospitals, the trolley pass through hatch ensures that large items can be moved safely and efficiently without compromising environmental integrity.

Designed with a larger opening to accommodate trolleys, carts, or large equipment, fixed directly to the finished flooring, providing a clean and uninterrupted floor through the hatch.

The hatch air is “cleaned” following use to either the filtered air level of the supply or the higher classification room aiding the risk of lower classification air entering the higher classification room.

With no visible fixings or recesses, facilitating easy cleaning, and providing maximum visibility with the completely frameless glass door leaf, this beautiful feature aids natural light into and through the hatch.

Benefits:

  • Leser Risk of Contamination: Ensures that large items can be transferred without introducing contaminants.
  • Enhanced Workflow: Streamlines the transfer process, improving efficiency and productivity.
  • Safety: Maintains the integrity of the controlled environment, protecting both the products and the personnel.
  • Versatility: Suitable for a wide range of applications and can be customised to meet specific requirements.

PBSC offers an extensive range of hatch options which include:

  • Wall Mounted Hatch – Reducing the risk of physical movement or transfer of harmful bacteria and pressure loss when transferring equipment between different classification areas.
  • Fan Filter Hatch – Designed to provide rapid air changes and fast clean-up/recovery times to reduce the waiting time when transferring goods between different grades of room.
  • Fire Rated Hatch – When a pass through hatch needs to be located in a firewall, PBSC can provide a tested and certified wall or floor mounted solution.
  • High Containment Barrier Hatch – These hatches are used in a broad range of applications from pharmaceutical facilities BSL2 through to BSL4. At the higher end of the containment spectrum, PBSC’s hatches can be fitted with pneumatic seals and sophisticated access and control options.

Innovation. Design. Quality

PBSC’s pass-through hatches are engineered to minimize airflow between connected environments during material transfer, ensuring optimal contamination control. After use, the air within the hatch is “cleaned” to match either the filtered air level of the supply or the higher classification room, maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and safety.

PBSC’s pass-through hatches are designed with a unique mechanical interlocking door system as standard, preventing both doors from being opened simultaneously. This interlock mechanism ensures the hatch “air” has time to recover before the other door can be opened, maintaining contamination control. The interlock is securely mounted between the two skins of the hatch to reduce the risk of tampering.

Additionally, PBSC’s pass-through hatches are available with an electro-mechanical system, offering timed interlocks for air purge, UV light cycles, and other custom requirements. This ensures comprehensive contamination control and adaptability to various operational needs.

Preventing direct airflow, minimising the risk of contamination and maintaining room pressure during the transfer process.

Interlocking mechanisms ensure that one door remains closed while the other is open, maintaining the integrity of each environment and facilitating the quick transfer of goods between different grades of rooms. This system upholds contamination control and operational efficiency.

Each hatch is available in various sizes and configurations to accommodate specific application requirements and user needs. Options include single or double door configurations, as well as right-angle designs, ensuring versatility and adaptability to diverse operational environments.

The refined design of PBSC’s hatches is robust, facilitating easy cleaning and maintenance. These hatches are ideal for passing products, equipment, or paperwork between sterile/clean areas and non-sterile/dirty areas, ensuring contamination control and operational efficiency.

Made from durable, smooth, non-porous materials, PBSC’s hatches offer a choice of finishes:

Polished Stainless Steel (standard offering): The hatch shell is manufactured from satin polished stainless steel with a double skin construction. All welds are ground off and polished to match the internal folded corners.

Phenolic Resin: The hatch shell is constructed of 16mm (5/8”) thick, matt white phenolic resin (High Pressure Laminate HPL) with no visible fixings. Internal junctions are finished with a neat silicone fillet, and all external edges are raised to form a smooth, easily cleaned unit.

Powder-Coated Steel: The outer shell is manufactured from powder-coated zintec, while the inner shell of the double skin construction is stainless steel. All welds are ground off and polished to match the internal folded corners.

These hatches are compatible with all types of walls and construction and are available with glass or solid doors to meet privacy requirements. Internal support shelves in either glass or stainless steel and stainless steel support frames are also available.

Following on-site installation, PBSC offers a Planned Preventative Maintenance and Servicing Plan with an extensive after-sales support service, including planned preventative maintenance programs, servicing, and spare parts.
