Overview
PBSC’s transfer hatches, also known as a pass box, pass chamber, or pass through, are among the best on the market. These hatches help reduce the risk of physical movement or transfer of harmful bacteria and pressure loss when transferring equipment between different classification areas, within cleanrooms, or in controlled environments.
The hatches from PBSC are designed for easy cleaning and maintenance, making them great for passing products, equipment, or even paperwork between sterile and non-sterile areas while preserving the integrity of each environment.

Designed with PBSC’s unique mechanical interlocking door system which comes as standard, meaning that both doors cannot be opened simultaneously. The interlock mechanism ensures hatch “air” is given time to recover before the other door can be opened and is mounted between the two skins of the hatch, to reduce the risk of tamper.
Also available as an electro-mechanical system to provide timed interlocks for air purge and UV light cycles, etc…
This prevents direct airflow, minimizing the risk of contamination and maintaining room pressure during the transfer process.
Interlocking mechanisms ensure that one door remains closed while the other is open, maintaining the integrity of each environment and facilitating a quick transfer of goods between different grades of rooms.
PBSC’s pass through hatches are designed to minimize airflow between the connected environments during material transfer.
The hatch air is “cleaned” following use to either the filtered air level of the supply or the higher classification room.
Made from durable smooth non-porous materials, with a choice of:
Polished stainless steel (standard offering) – The hatch shell is manufactured from satin polished stainless steel of double skin construction, all welds will be ground off and polished to match with internal folded corners.
Phenolic resin – The hatch shell is constructed of 16mm (5/8”) thick, matt white, phenolic resin (High Pressure Laminate HPL) with no visible fixings. Internal junctions are finished with a neat silicone fillet and all external edges will be raised to form a smooth, easily cleaned unit.
Powder-coated steel – The hatch outer shell is manufactured with a powder-coated zintec and the inner shell of the double skin construction is in stainless steel, all welds will be ground off and polished to match with internal folded corners.
Compatible with all types of walls and construction and available with glass or solid doors depending on privacy requirements.
Available with internal support shelves in either glass or stainless steel and stainless steel support frames.
Every hatch comes in various sizes and configurations to accommodate the end user and specific application requirements.
Single or double door configuration options are available including right angle designs.
The refined design is robust and provides easy cleaning and maintenance.
PBSC’s hatches are designed to be easy to clean and maintain. This makes it great for passing products, equipment, or even paperwork between sterile/clean areas and non-sterile/dirty areas.
Following on-site installation, PBSC offers a Planned Preventative Maintenance and Servicing Plan with an extensive after-sales support service, including planned preventative maintenance programs, servicing, and spare parts.

The advantages of ventilated hatches are many....
Pass through hatches play a critical role in maintaining the cleanliness of cleanrooms and controlled conditions of environments with different cleanliness requirements. Their use helps ensure that materials and equipment can be transferred between areas without compromising the integrity of each space.
